Title: Swipe Right for Surprise

Maya had been single for a while and finally decided to give online dating a shot. She downloaded a popular dating app, filled out her profile, and started swiping. After a few days, she matched with a guy named Alex. His profile was charming—he loved dogs, had a great smile, and seemed like a genuinely nice guy. They exchanged a few messages and quickly hit it off. They both loved hiking, trying new foods, and had a shared obsession with ’80s music.

After a week of texting, they decided to meet in person. They agreed on a cozy little coffee shop in the heart of the city. Maya was nervous but excited. As she walked into the café, she scanned the room for Alex. Her eyes landed on a guy sitting at a corner table, looking at his phone. He was even better looking in person, she thought. She took a deep breath, walked over, and introduced herself.

“Hi, Alex?” she asked.

The man looked up, clearly surprised, and said, “Uh, actually, I’m not Alex, but you can sit down if you want. I’m Josh.”

Embarrassed, Maya apologized and quickly explained that she had mistaken him for her date. They both laughed about the awkward encounter, and Maya moved on to find the real Alex. She found him sitting at a table by the window.

They had a great time, chatting for hours over coffee. Maya was relieved to find that Alex was as great in person as he was online. They decided to take a walk through the nearby park afterward. Everything was going perfectly.

As they walked, they stumbled upon a small dog park. Alex immediately lit up, mentioning how much he loved dogs. They both stopped to watch the dogs play, and that’s when Maya noticed something familiar—Josh, the guy from the café, was there with a dog. He noticed her too and walked over with a grin.

“Well, we meet again!” Josh said, laughing. “I guess the universe really wants us to meet.”

Alex chuckled, clearly enjoying the coincidence. The three of them ended up chatting together for a while, and Josh’s dog, a friendly golden retriever, instantly won Maya over.

As the evening went on, Maya realized she was having as much fun talking to Josh as she was with Alex. When it was time to part ways, Alex asked if she’d like to meet up again sometime, and Maya agreed. But as she walked away, Josh handed her his phone number, “Just in case you ever want to grab a coffee with the wrong guy again.”

Maya left the park with a smile, knowing that online dating might just lead to more surprises than she’d expected. A week later, she found herself texting both Alex and Josh, not sure where things would go, but enjoying the adventure nonetheless.
